Dr. Taslim Zaman Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)

I am a Psychiatrist and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). A Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine sees the entire patient as an integrated whole, rather than only treating for specific symptoms. Thus, DO’s address conditions from both a lifestyle & medical perspective compared to most physicians who focus often on solely a medical perspective.

The osteopathic philosophy embraces the idea of unity of structure & function through 4 main principles:

  • The body is a unit
  • The person represents a combination of mind, body, & soul
  • The body is capable of self-regulation, self-healing, & health maintenance
  • Rational treatment is based on an understanding of these principles and the interrelationship of structure & function

As a Psychiatrist, I integrate these osteopathic principles into all my treatments. Many of the treatments are deprived from Herbal Medicine and Naturopathic Medicine. I offer Music Therapy, Reiki-Qigong Therapy, and Mindfulness therapy in my sessions. As a DO, I believe that that the musculoskeletal system plays a vital role to maintain proper health. Thus, I offer Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine treatments such as myofascial release.

I have experience treating Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, OCD, PTSD, Personality Disorders, and Addiction. I am experienced in providing outpatient-based addiction treatments which are supplemented by addiction treatment centers. Currently, I treat patients 18 years or older.

What you can expect from our treatment process: Each patient receives thorough and comprehensive psychiatric evaluation which will be monitored routinely using scales such as the HAM-D, HAM-A, and Young Mania.  I  gather your bio-psycho-social history and psychiatric history prior to the first appointment. The comprehensive intake process, allows for an efficient, more genuine interaction, and my complete attention during every visit. Each session is concluded with a treatment plan in place and goals are monitored during all  follow-up appointments. This process allows  for incremental progress that can be monitored.
